LADLE, David H. Spears, Springfield, Kentucky

Item Description

A 7 ¾ inch coin silver ladle by David H. Spears, Springfield, Kentucky, circa 1840. Spears began work circa 1815 in Springfield, and most of his silver work was likely done before mid-century. The handle is typical of his unique form, used by no one else. All extant silver made by him is quite scarce, and mostly spoons are found. This ladle is an exception. Fine condition.
