George Dowig, Baltimore, Maryland This set of 8 3/4 inch spoons bear the mark of one of Baltimore's rarest 18th century makers.
These beautiful spoons show an early script monogram "E.C." They have a feathered edge, and the maker's mark "GD" is struck three times on each spoon.
Some even wear and a few minor bowl bumps do not detract from the appearance of this museum quality set. Pleasant & Sill's book " Maryland Silversmiths" mention the great scarcity of silver by this maker.
This is the best 18th century set of Baltimore spoons I have seen.
