A Silver Pin by Aksel Holmsen, Sandefjord, Norway. This large pin depicts a military event of some kind and there is an inscription at the bottom in Norwegian. Quite large at 2 1/2 inches across and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. The piece is marked .830, which is the standard fineness for Norwegian Silver, along with the maker's mark. Excellent condition and a most unusual piece of early Holmsen silver.
