A coin silver teaspoon by William S. Jacks

A coin silver teaspoon by William S. Jacks, San Francisco, California, w. 1849-1853. Jacks was in partnership with Hamlet Jacks, likely his brother, and later with a Mr. Woodruff (Jacks & Woodruff). This is the only item I have found that is marked only by Wm. Jacks alone. The maker's mark is rather crudely made suggesting that it was not made by a marking stamp maker but was cut by Jacks himself. In any case it is an interesting, perhaps unique spoon by one of the earliest non-Hispanic silversmiths of California, and this piece likely pre-dates the known silver items made by Jacks during his partnerships.

Should be quite interesting to a collector of California silver.
