An early dessert or fruit spoon by Elliott K. Foster, one of the earliest silversmiths working in Indianapolis IN.
Foster was in business there by 1830 and left for parts unknown about 1840, after selling his business to W.H.Talbott. This spoon, while bearing the early E.K. Foster mark, also is dated 1830, making this one of Foster's earliest known pieces. Any Indiana silver from this period is unusually scarce and virtually unobtainable. 7 1/2 inches long and in pristine condition.
