An exceptional 13 1/2 inch ladle by Christian Wiltberger, Philadelphia, circa 1790.

This superb piece is in pristine condition and has a monogram "WAW" in period script. The chamfered drop where handle joins the bowl is quite unusual, and the back of handle shows a rib extending from tip of handle for about four inches. Although Wiltberger worked into the 19th century, all of the elements of this ladle indicate that it is a 1790s piece.
