Moore & Ferguson, Philadelphia, 1801-1805.

A coin silver toddy ladle with baleen (whalebone) silver tipped handle. The toddy ladle is mostly an 18th century form, carrying into the first decade of the 19th cent. This example is about seven inches long and one of the smallest examples of an already scarce form that I have seen. The M&F mark is a very scarce one for this early partnership of Charles Moore and John Ferguson. Condition of this piece is unusually nice. Period monogram on bottom of bowl is "A S".
