A large, coin silver teaspoon, 6 7/8 inches, by Moses Eastman, Savannah,
Georgia, showing a swaged, shell pattern on handle as well as
a shell-back (where handle joins the bowl). Eastman was the successor to
earlier silversmiths Marquand and Penfield, and worked for the later
as a junior partner until Penfield's death in 1828, at which time
Eastman continued the business alone. This spoon is likely from the
1830s when Eastman was most active as a silversmith.
Fine condition.
