A coin silver ladle by Thomas William Brown, Wilmington, North Carolina. Brown began working as a silversmith there in 1823. By 1850s he was in a partnership with a man named Anderson which lasted until 1871. The early form of this ladle suggests it was made in the1830s or earlier. A nice, heavy and well made ladle, about 7 1/2 inches.
