A petite coin silver salt shovel by James Merriman, Memphis, Tennessee, circa 1850. The mark on this piece is the same as shown in Caldwell's "Tennessee Silversmiths" About 3 & 5/8th inches. Handle shows a bit of pitting (salt does that) and monogram is "MJS".
