A large tablespoon by Stephen D. Choate. Choate first worked briefly in Cincinnati before arriving in Louisville Kentucky in 1840. By 1855, Choate relocated to nearby Shelbyville where he established a shop selling jewelry, repairing watches and clocks, and likely doing silver work as well. This piece is 8 1/2 inches and in excellent condition.
