A coin silver card case by Horace E. Baldwin, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Baldwin worked in that city from 1842 until 1853. The case measures about
three and a half by two and a quarter inches. The central cartouche shows
an
engraved scene, along with a vacant cartouche on the reverse that was meant
to contain the name or monogram of the owner. The remainder of the case
shows a nice engine-turned design. There are some minor bumps on the hinged
lid, as seen in the photos, otherwise the piece is in excellent condition,
and the lid closes tightly. A desirable New Orleans example.
