New research regarding American Silversmiths
I have done a bit of new research regarding Indiana Silversmiths since my
book on that subject was published in 1984. The following marks illustrated
below are newly discovered ones that are not illustrated in my book. All
silver marked by Indiana makers must be considered scarce, since so little
of it exists today, especially outside a few important collections. I am
happy to share my research with my collecting friends and hope it will aid
you in your search for silver from the Hoosier
State.
For those who have a copy of "Indiana Silversmiths, Clock Makers and Watch
Makers, 1779-1900" it might be a good idea
to copy the following marks and insert them in the back of the book with the
sixty-four marks illustrated in the book.
If you would like a copy of the book, I still have a few at 49.00 plus
shipping of 5.00.
The book is hardbound, 271 pages, with information on nearly 300
silversmiths and related tradesmen. Many photos and illustrations.
