A fine pair of solid gold spectacles. American and likely dating circa
1830-1840. The early silver examples are scarce, but gold examples rarely
appear for sale. The six-sided lenses and heavy weight, as well as the
sliding arms are indicative of the abovementioned time period.
(See my articles on early spectacles in SILVER MAGAZINE).
The spectacles are unmarked, but tested by me to be at least 10K and perhaps
higher. Not unusual for gold items from this period to be unmarked.
Exceptionally fine condition with lenses intact.
