A sterling silver compact bearing the insignia of the United States Naval Academy and dated 1920. Also an engraved USNA and "CLASS GERMAN" is inscribed on one side. This may have been a gift from a Naval Cadet to a girlfriend, but the inscription is puzzling. Also, a wedding picture is encased behind the mirror section, just as I found it. The piece was made by Charles Thomae & Co. of Attleboro, Mass. which company began in business there in 1920. This is the first item made by that firm that I have seen. Quite heavy at nearly five ounces, it measures 3 1/2 inches by two and 7/16. plus the silver mesh chain.
The whole thing is in pristine condition.
