General George B. McClellan, very large campaign medal in white metal, two inches in diameter.
McClellan mounted a presidential campaign, running against Abraham Lincoln
who had removed him from the command of the US forces fighting the Civil
War. On the reverse of the medal, McClellan lists all of his battles from
the war. I can't remember that he won any battles. Nonetheless, his 1864
campaign was not successful and Lincoln won handily.
This important, high relief medal is in splendid, nearly uncirculated
condition. This and other political medals I have listed are from an
important Kentucky collection.
