Gold Medal for the "Exposition Internationale" held at Lyon (France) in
1914. That event was an exposition for artists, and this medal was awarded
to Camille Guillod (from) Besancon.
An impressive medal in original box from this famous art exposition right
before the outbreak of World War One. Medal is about two inches in diameter
and is signed on the edge "Christofle", a well known Jewelry house in Paris
that was known to strike medals for special events.
This gold plated medal is about pristine although the original presentation
box, also marked Christofle, shows wear and tear.
Front of medal says "Medaille d'Or"
and "Ludunum", the latter being the ancient Roman word for the city now
called Lyon.
