A large bronze medal from the CENTURY OF PROGRESS International Exposition,
Chicago, 1933.
I believe that this piece was an award medal. This two and a quarter inch
medal shows a relief map of the exposition site,
and on the obverse a male figure in very high relief. Dated 1833-1933.
About uncirculated except for a bit of roughness on the edge above the word
"the" on the reverse. A handsome "Art Deco" medal.
The medal is signed by the well known sculptor and designer Emil Robert
Zettler (1878-1946) who was the Head of the Industrial Art Section of
Chicago's Art Institute. Zettler apparently designed all the medals for the
exposition.
